Front derailleur setup and tuning

Set up the front derailleur and make small corrections to its chainring positions.

Manual setup

  1. Support the bike so the drivetrain can move freely.
  2. In Bike Setup, select the connected front derailleur and choose Manual Setup.
  3. Set the number of chainrings.
  4. Use the move controls to center the cage on the smallest chainring.
  5. Set the largest-chainring target.
  6. Save and verify the configuration.

Fine-tune the positions

Front Tune lets you make small corrections to the outer chainring positions and move between them while checking the result. On a drivetrain with middle chainrings, those positions are read-only because BikeNet calculates them from the two outer targets.

Enter the correct tooth count for every chainring. BikeNet uses those values with the rear cassette to calculate gear ratios and analyze gear use.

Test safely

Turn the pedals by hand and check cage clearance, derailleur limits, front shifts, and every relevant rear-cassette position before riding. The chain should move cleanly without rubbing excessively or being pushed beyond a chainring.

Keep fingers and clothing away whenever the motor can move. BikeNet makes setup-changing controls unavailable during an active ride.
