Adjust obstruction detection
What it does
Obstruction detection monitors the motor during each shift. If the movement needs an abnormal amount of force or does not proceed as expected, the controller can stop and move back toward the previous gear instead of continuing to push.
The protection can reduce damage from a jam, poor adjustment, or another blocked movement. BikeNet also records the detection count in system status, which can help identify a repeating problem.
Change sensitivity
- Open Bike Setup and select the supported shifting controller.
- Open Shift behavior.
- Move Obstruction detection toward More sensitive if you want earlier intervention, or toward Less sensitive only when normal shifts trigger false detections.
- Save and test on a securely supported bike.
Be careful with lower sensitivity
A less-sensitive setting allows the motor to meet more resistance before it stops. At the lowest sensitivity, a heavy load may cause the battery to enter protection mode and turn the controller off, which is why BikeNet asks for confirmation. Recovery may require holding the red reset button for 30 seconds.
Only reduce sensitivity when normal, mechanically sound shifts are producing false detections. Make one small change, test it on a securely supported bike, and check the complete drivetrain.
