NXS

Batteries, faults, and obstruction protection

Replace or charge NXS batteries and deal safely with a blocked shift or motor fault.

Pod battery

The Pod uses a CR2032 coin cell. Replace it with a new battery from a reputable brand when BikeNet reports a low battery or a failed load test. Check that it is facing the correct way, seated flat, and touching clean contacts.

A coin cell can show a normal voltage when idle but drop sharply when the Pod transmits. That is why a load-test warning may be meaningful even when the battery seems to work occasionally.

Motor battery

Charge the motor battery with a standard 5 V USB charger and a compatible USB-C cable. Some USB-C fast chargers do not supply the mode this device expects, so try a simple 5 V charger if charging does not begin. Disconnect the charger before running System Check.

Treat a critical warning as a charge-now message. If the battery reaches its depleted lockout level, shifting is disabled until the battery is charged.

Obstructions and motor faults

If the motor meets unexpected resistance during a shift, NXS may stop and move back toward the previous gear to protect the drivetrain. Stop pressing the shift control and inspect the derailleur, cable, chain, cassette, and wheel area before trying again.

Clear any obstruction and check for damage or poor adjustment. Do not continue riding through undervoltage, failed movement, or repeated obstruction faults; identify the mechanical or power problem first.
