Understand Shifting Intelligence
Insights from one ride
BikeNet looks at patterns such as your cadence before a shift, your rhythm on flatter roads and climbs, how consistently you shift, and whether you often shift while pushing unusually hard on the pedals.
These are observations from your own ride data. They are not universal targets, and they should be read alongside the route, weather, fatigue, and the kind of ride you intended to do.
Patterns across rides
For longer-term comparisons, BikeNet groups rides that use the same identified wheel and cassette setup. It waits for enough comparable data to establish your usual pattern before offering a broader observation.
For example, it may notice that you repeatedly climb at a low cadence while already using your easiest gear. A single steep climb or unusually difficult day is not enough on its own.
Why you may not see an insight
Useful insights need sustained cadence and gear data, along with enough riding on suitable terrain. A flat ride cannot say much about climbing gears, and a ride with frequent drivetrain disconnections may not provide enough reliable coverage.
Sometimes there simply is no meaningful pattern to call out. In that case, “Everything looks good” is a useful result rather than a missing analysis.
